What to Expect from Your First Physiotherapy & Neuro-Recovery Appointment
During your first session you may be asked to:
- Attain a physicians note stating that you can participated in an
exercise program. We may need to know of any restrictions for your safety. - Provide a most recent bone density report if your main mode of transport is a wheelchair
Your first appointment will consist of an assessment to evaluate your baseline and discuss your treatment goals. For the rest of your session, our Neuro-Recovery Team will work one-on-one with you performing repetitive, load baring activities targeting each area of your body. Our program is tailored to your individual abilities and goals. Sessions range from 1-2 hours depending on Therapist recommendation and schedule availability. Our focus of our program is to stimulate the nervous system through a client-cantered Activity Based Therapy (ABT) program and hands-on therapy.
In your session, you will see typical pieces of exercise equipment used in our unique program to fit your needs, abilities and goals. Our facility hosts state-of-the-art specialized equipment including a partial-body-weight support system (PBWSS) over treadmill and PBWSS over elliptical, NuStep cross trainer, and a Functional Electrical Stimulation Bike for both arm and legs….learn more about our equipment.
Going forward, your Neuro-Recovery Trainer will design an Activity Based Therapy program with you that is goal based and individually designed to meet your specific needs.
