Jessica Ursitti – C6/7 ASIA tetraplegia
Hello my name is Jessica and I live in Mississauga. In August of 2014, I fell while at cheerleading practice fracturing my C6 vertebrae. I was 13 when I was injured. After surgery and a three week stay at Sickids, I went to Holland Bloorview Children’s Rehab Hospital for intense therapy over a 7 month period.
Throughout that time I continued with school and was able to join my class when I returned home. I’m now in high school and continue with therapy multiple days a week.
Since my injury I have worked endlessly; my core has gotten a lot stronger and my fingers and hands have improved. It’s a lot of hard work but I’m up to the challenge.
My goal is to walk again and do the Amazing Race with my Dad.
