Joselito Del Barrio
Hi, my name is Joselito, but most people call me Lito.
Before my injury, I lived a very active life. I loved playing basketball every weekend, working in the yard, and fixing things around our home. Staying active and busy was something that brought me a lot of joy.
In April 2023, I suffered a sudden cardiac arrest early in the morning. My heart had nearly stopped, and paramedics had to perform multiple defibrillation attempts to bring me back. Due to the lack of oxygen to my brain, I sustained a traumatic brain injury. I spent several weeks in the ICU on a ventilator, unresponsive and fighting infections.
Because of my injury, I have lost my mobility and my vision, which has been one of the most difficult parts of this journey. Despite this, I continue to stay positive and focused on my recovery. Now, I am working hard to regain my strength and independence. My goal is to continue physiotherapy, improve my mobility, and one day learn to walk again.
My recovery requires ongoing therapy and specialized equipment at home, which my family is working hard to provide. Any support towards my treatment at Walk It Off would mean so much to me and my family.
Thank you for being part of my journey,
Joselito Del Barrio
